We have created a digital ecosystem which makes for an enjoyable experience, offering inspiration and allows users to plan and book their holiday in one of the most famous and unspoiled parts of Piedmont.

The Digital Evolution of visitlmr.it

The Langhe Monferrato and Roero tourist board is one of Italy’s best known DMOs, where food and wine are the key drivers of its fame and popularity.

A reputation which is to be capitalised on and made accessible digitally, which is why we have worked on this new project alongside Bruno Bertero, the director of the Langhe Monferrato and Roero tourist board, and his team.

There main innovation of the new digital hub for Langhe Monferrato and Roero is the marketing of experiences.

This is our starting point because we know how important it is to allow users to put plans into practice and complete the experience by purchasing directly while also facilitating the work of local tour operators.

Direct online purchases of experiences

For DMOs such as Langhe Monferrato and Roero, the marketing of activities, experiences, and events is a considerable advantage. It is also crucially important for tour operators who value the help it offers in selling experiences.

Thanks to the technological optimisations applied by Kumbe, the needs of these two interests can be met.

What did we particularly enjoy about this project? The detailed analytical work carried out alongside the team from Langhe Monferrato and Roero. 

We know the audience which chooses this DMO for their holidays: mainly domestic visitors but with a significant percentage of international tourists.

An easy way for users to interact with the team from visitlmr.it thanks to the WhatsApp integration. WhatsApp is a channel which is used by everyone and which greatly facilitates communication and the exchange of information.

A portal that is easy to manage

At Kumbe, we love to simplify and make work easier for our clients.

We have taken into account the organisational structure of the Langhe Monferrato and Roero team, people whose roles require them to update and work with the new visitlmr.it web portal. 

The visitlmr.it team does a considerable amount of work, writing and creating a huge volume of content to convey everything which the DMO has to offer for tourists. 
The design of the architecture, conducted in close contact with the team, helped to organise the content around useful and high-performance logics.

For every DMO it is critical to put teams in a position to work more easily, particularly at the busiest times of the season when time is short and there is lots of work to do. With a web portal like visitlmr.it, the front and back office staff can make full use of this tool to find information and speed up their work.

Coordinated Design

The Langhe Monferrato and Roero DMO already had a destination brand. This meant that our task was to create a design that was aligned and, at the same time, responsive and effective. We retained and made full use of the three main colours which represent the three different areas: green for the Langhe, red for Monferrato, and yellow for Roero, producing a website that is pleasing to use.

There was also a lot of work involved in writing content and translating them. 
The four languages chosen by the DMO for the web portal are Italian, English, German, and French.

Technology Integrations

A comprehensive destination portal such as visitlmr.it includes a number of technology integrations which facilitate its performance.
For this project, we looked at the following: 

  • integrating the regional database for accessing stakeholders, e.g. accommodation providers
  • integrating the Regiondo online booking system for purchasing the experiences and activities on offer
  • creating CTAs that point externally at sales portals, e.g. Piemonte On Wine
  • integrating widgets for audioguides
Podcast Langhe

Words & Voice

A lot of attention was paid to the copywriting. Writing text that speaks to people is not easy, it required a careful process. In addition, we included the option to enhance the content by also inserting podcasts. Telling stories about the experiences to enjoy in Langhe Monferrato and Roero.

And what about the future?

There are already plans in the pipeline for Langhe Monferrato and Roero which, through its director Bruno Bertero, is focussed on the future and evolution.

Kumbe and the DMO are discussing and researching the optimal solutions around the important subject of interoperability.

Interoperability with the Piedmont regional systems

The digital project we could implement involves the mapping of the data and information to be exchanged between the system of the Langhe Monferrato and Roero tourist board and the regional VisitPiemonte organisation, identifying where processing or conversions may be required to adapt the data from the local systems to the format required by the regional system.
